Lists help you keep people and companies in one place: save them, research and qualify them, share them, and turn them into outreach. You can build a list from scratch, from a search, or by importing your own data, then add columns to enrich each entry. This guide covers everything you can do with a List.

1. What Lists are (and Global Lists)
A List is a collection of profiles — people, companies, or a mix of both in the same list. Use them to:
- Save and organize profiles you want to track
- Qualify and enrich entries with columns (AI questions, web research, CRM status, and more)
- Share a list with teammates or with anyone via a public link
- Start outreach campaigns from your saved profiles
Lists also work as a lightweight CRM — add a Status column, notes, and your own custom fields.
Global Lists are Distill-curated company lists (for example, Fortune 500, Fortune 1000, and Y Combinator batches). They're read-only. To use one, open Global Lists, find a list, and Duplicate it — you'll get your own editable copy titled "Copy of [name]."
2. Create a list
You can create a list two ways:
- From the Lists page — click New list.
- From a search — when you run a People or Company search, click Save on a result and choose to save to a new list or an existing list. Saved profiles appear in your list and in the Saved tab of your search.
3. Add profiles to a list
Open a list and click + Add profile to open the Add to List panel. You have three options:
- Search — look up a profile and add it directly.
- Bulk Add — paste Distill URLs, LinkedIn URLs, or emails (one per line) to add many at once.
- Upload a CSV — your file needs a header row with a column containing "Email" or "URL" (a Name column is optional; all other columns import as text columns). Choose whether to import as People or Companies.
