Project screening helps prevent conflicting, duplicated, or unwanted outreach. Open Project Settings to review the rules for your Project.

| Screening source | What it uses | CRM required |
|---|---|---|
| Activity in Distill | Meetings, hand-offs, messages, connections, and sender activity recorded in Distill | No |
| CRM Relationships | CRM records, relationships, and stages | Yes |
In Project Settings, these rules appear under Distill Activity. They use meetings, hand-offs, messages, LinkedIn connections, and sender activity already recorded in Distill. They do not require a CRM.
| Rule | What Distill does | You configure |
|---|---|---|
| Auto-add companies after meetings booked | Adds the candidate's current employer to the Do Not Contact List when a meeting is booked | On or off |
| Auto-add companies after hand-off to client | Adds the employer after a positive reply, booked meeting, or manual hand-off | On or off |
| Limit concurrent outreach per company | Pauses new candidates while the maximum number of people at the company are already in active outreach | Maximum people, then Apply |
| Rule | What Distill does | You configure |
|---|---|---|
| Skip existing LinkedIn connections | Moves cached first-degree connections to Screened. Connections earned by the same campaign are not screened by this rule. | On or off |
| Skip recently messaged people | Prevents the same sender from starting duplicate outreach to someone they recently contacted in another campaign. Distill routes the candidate according to their existing contact or conversation state. | Number of days, then Apply |
| Limit senders per target person | Pauses a candidate when enough senders are already reaching out to them or have received a reply from them | Maximum senders, then Apply |
CRM-based screening is optional. To use it, find CRM in Project Settings and click Configure CRM.
| Provider | How to connect |
|---|---|
| HubSpot | Select HubSpot, click Connect HubSpot, and authorize read access to contact, company, and deal information |
| Attio | Select Attio and enter the required API key |
After connecting, the CRM card shows the provider, connection status, who connected it, the authentication method, and the Lists using the connection.
Once a CRM is connected, CRM Relationships appears under Screening. These rules use relationships recorded in your CRM, independently of activity in Distill.
Select every condition that should screen a candidate, then click Save. Conditions are independent and combined with OR logic, so a candidate is screened when any selected condition matches.
